With the January uprising and the brutal massacre of the regime, in the continuation of the uprisings of the people so far, the majority of the people have come to the conclusion that the current trends have pushed the Islamic Republic further towards overthrow.

The Left Party of Iran calls on political movements, human rights institutions, civil activists, and the Iranian people to work to stop executions, end unfair trials, and immediately release political and ideological prisoners by raising public awareness and organizing domestic and international campaigns. Protecting the lives of political prisoners is the shared responsibility of all people and political movements claiming democracy and institutions that strive to realize human rights. Silence in these circumstances could lead to an irreparable disaster.

The Left Party of Iran insists on the necessity of adhering to the peace negotiations and considers its pursuit to be subject to maximum flexibility on both sides to build mutual trust. The necessary conditions for stopping the war are both fundamental changes in the nuclear policies and the adventurist approaches of the Islamic Republic in the region, and the Trump administration’s avoidance of excesses, and especially the neutralization of the Netanyahu government’s continuous sabotage of peacemaking

The Left Party of Iran, welcoming the announced ceasefire and the appointment for negotiations, emphasizes on its stabilization and strengthening in order to resolve the conflicts. It is vital that the ceasefire leads to a complete cessation of the war and opens the paths of peace, freedom, and social justice. Without the release of political prisoners and an end to internal repression, there will be no lasting peace.

A credible pathway toward ending the war must be grounded in a framework capable of producing a stable and lasting peace in the region. Such an outcome may emerge either within the framework of the current political order or in a future post–Islamic Republic context.
