Starve War, Feed Peace

Starve War, Feed Peace

Israel is facing mounting international condemnation over its genocidal policies. There is a growing sense that Western populations are turning against Israeli atrocities and favour a long-term solution beyond the status quo in Gaza.  Finally, Britain, Canada, and France are moving to join another 147 UN member states in formally recognizing Palestinian statehood. This move is timed to coincide with the upcoming meeting of the UN General Assembly.

Such recognition will provide Palestine with greater weight on the diplomatic field.  But the most crucial action required – IMMEDIATELY -- is to starve the Israeli military machine of weapons and ammunition, forcing an end to the bloodshed.

Even in Germany, Israel’s second largest arms supplier, public opinion has tilted steeply against Israeli conduct. Most Western politicians have decided to distance themselves (albeit symbolically) from these atrocities.

Meanwhile, the United States continues to provide Israel with full and comprehensive backing.

The ultimate goal of Israel and its US patron is complete Israeli occupation of Gaza, the West Bank and beyond.  Step by step, they aim to concoct a “new Middle East” under the control of Israel.

Israel has killed at least 61,000 Gazans to date, and is starving to death the remaining two million.  More than one in three Gazans are not eating for days in a row.

In the past 22 months of the Gaza war the world has witnessed intensified Israeli settlers’ atrocities against the West Bank, Israeli wars in Lebanon and Iran and escalating Israeli aggressions in Syria.

Netanyahu has finally dropped all pretence and has ordered the total occupation of Gaza. The first step is to ethnically cleanse Gaza by squeezing Gazans into a concentration camp in the south of the strip. He claims Israel will then hand over Gaza to an “Arab force.” (Who? From where?)

The Middle East – and indeed the world – urgently need peace and security. But these goals remain an illusive dream. The Middle East cannot live peacefully and securely until these Israeli/American machinations are defeated. *-++
