The assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, which took place immediately after the inauguration ceremony of the new president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, causes expansion of the scope of the war beyond the borders of Israel and Palestine, at the same time, a warning to the Islamic Republic in the heart of Tehran. This action showed the power of the right-wing government of Israel and the influence of the Israeli spy service in the security apparatus of the regime and emphasized the point that not only the guests, but also no official or institution in Iran has sufficient security. A regime that is all about security control over the daily lives of citizens and applying the most severe repressions against their protests, does not even have the ability to maintain the security of its senior guests. Although it has been revealed for a long time that the Israeli espionage network has penetrated to the depths of the corrupt system of the regime and the intelligence agencies of the Supreme Leader, which are looking day and night to arrest girls and women who do not submit to the mandatory hijab, and in the most violent way workers, employees, pensioners, people of ethnic areas and even the families of political prisoners are oppressed, they are unable to deal with the influence of a foreign government among the top institutions of the regime.
The assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, before anything else at this moment, will lead to the termination of the ceasefire negotiations, which have not yet been concluded despite the issuance of a resolution in the UN Security Council and the pressure of regional and world governments to end the killings in Gaza. Especially now that the continuation of the war has become a vital issue to maintain Netanyahu's government, the ceasefire in Gaza and the cessation of the killing of Palestinians can be the end of Netanyahu's corrupt cabinet and the end of his own political life. The right-wing government of Israel, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, who is officially accused by the international court of genocide and war crimes in Gaza, by inciting tension and expanding the war in the region, including Lebanon, and involvement of the Islamic Republic in the war, is trying to make the American government get directly involved in the war in the region, beyond the unrelenting aid of weapons and supplies so far, and increase the life of its government at the cost of more killings.
The assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran will in fact fuel tension and intensify the conflict in the region. The Islamic Republic, which justified its involvement in regional tensions, including its presence in Syria and Lebanon, and the harmful policy of "strategic depth" under the pretext of maintaining security in Tehran, now that it is faced with this terror in the heart of Tehran, with rodomontade against Israel and retaliatory measures, it has made the country more isolated than before, exposed the people's security to continuous threats and will further destroy the relationship with the world. On the other hand, with the support of the American government, especially the Congress of this country, and with the silence of the West, Netanyahu's government will continue its aggressive policy in the region, the genocide in Gaza and the massacre of Palestinians.
The Left Party of Iran considers Haniyeh's assassination in Tehran to be in violation of international laws, a violation of the country's national sovereignty, and an act against peace and tranquility in the region and condemns it. The continuation of war and terror is an obstacle to achieving peace and security in the region. Fueling the atmosphere of tension opens the hands of the government of the Islamic Republic to suppress the Iranian people more violently. We call on the political parties and progressive and peace-loving forces to condemn the warmongering plans of the Israeli government and the assassinations and crimes committed by both sides and demand an immediate end to the conflicts and return to the negotiating table. The conflict between Israel and Palestine and the two nations has no military solution and can only be resolved through diplomacy and at the negotiating table.
