The Environmental Working Group of the Left Party of Iran condemns the arrest of environmental activists and calls for their immediate release. We also call for the release of those detained during the recent protests and all political (prisoners of conscience) detainees.

Undoubtedly, the support of the international community for the fundamental rights of the people of Iran, within the framework of respect for national independence and the right to self-determination, can serve as a strong, effective, and hopeful backing for the people’s movement for freedom.

Openly acknowledged talks between the US and Iran are taking place in Oman. Still, no one – not even the impetuous Donald Trump -- knows if a military attack on Iran is imminent.

The present manoeuvres by both sides indicates another possibility. Knowing a serious agreement of the opposing camps is well-nigh impossible they will be looking for  middle way compromise to lower the tension . Such a compromise will only manage the crisis but delays its resolution to another – unspecified time zone.

We express our concern and urge you to do everything in your power to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from continuing these massacres and other threats against prisoners in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

We believe that liberation from the Islamic Republic, the establishment of freedom, democracy and equality, is only possible through the hands of the Iranian people and through their conscious, widespread and comprehensive struggles. Sanctioning the institutions of repression and holding the perpetrators of crimes accountable is part of the international support for this just and popular path.
