On the last day of Israeli military invasion of Iran, Netanyahu's bombs targeted the Evin Prison. The Netanyahu government, which has shown that it is not afraid of killing human beings, intended to take the lives of those who are captives of the repressive regime of the Islamic Republic. In the attack, at least 71 people were killed and tens were injured. We do not have accurate information about the fate of the prisoners after this attack because of the lack of access to the reliable news in the Islamic Republic. After the bombing, the Islamic Republic moved the prisoners to other prisons and deprived them of all the facilities that the prisoners had imposed on the prison officials one after another. Now, after the Israeli bombs, the regime is seeking an excuse to kill prisoners and overwhelm their resistance.
Since the beginning of the war, the regime has exacerbated the arrest and suppression of freedom-seekers and civil and political activists, instead of protecting the lives of citizens and securing their safety and rights. Only within the past two weeks, many have been arrested on charges of "spy for Israel", and at the same time as the attack on Evin Prison, not only was the wave of arrests and suppression outside of the prison, but the pressure on prisoners has also increased sharply inside the prison. Instead of freeing men and women prisoners, they have been transferred to places whose conditions are even worse than the notorious Evin Prison.
The lives of political prisoners are now in serious danger. Given the deteriorating conditions of prisons, the transfer of political prisoners to unknown places is a warning to the people and all political forces. The Islamic Republic has a bloody and dark history of killing political prisoners. The regime has shown that in the time of war, it has the potential to attack the prisoners. We should not allow another tragedy to be repeated in silence. It is important to be sensitive and vigilant in the prisoners' situation and not to miss any effort for their freedom.
The Left Party of Iran believes that the most urgent action at the present moment is the attempt to save the lives of political prisoners and fight for their release. The repression and killing machine of the Islamic Republic can only be halted by the resistance and struggle of political forces and civil activists. It is important that political forces and civil activists intensify their efforts for the release of political prisoners.
The Left Party of Iran considers the struggle for the unconditional freedom of all political and ideological prisoners and to counter the exacerbation of oppression and the atmosphere of repression in the country and emphasizes the necessity of solidarity between progressive and freedom -seeking forces in this regard. People's consciousness and the expansion of the activity to save the lives of political prisoners can counter threats against political prisoners and civil and political activists. It is important to activate democratic institutions and communities to pressure the Islamic Republic in whatever way we can and mobilize public opinion in Iran as well as outside of Iran to confront the warmongers and oppressors of the people and organize a nationwide campaign for the release of political prisoners!
