Greetings from CCDS to the Left Party of Iran,

Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism (USA) congratulates the Left Party of Iran (People's Fadaian) on the convening of its first periodic convention, July 12-14 in the Netherlands. We wish the convention every success and are confident that the new party will make outstanding contributions to international collaboration and peace, as well as advancing the interests of the workers and people of Iran despite the current difficult conditions.

Our organizations have much in common, especially at this time when there is great danger of war between the US and Iran. Such a war would be catastrophic for our peoples and movements and the countries of the region. The Trump administration deliberately creates tension and crisis, implements harsh sanctions harming the Iranian people and threatens to attack Iran for US domination and hegemony.

This war would be a disaster and stopping it should be a priority for the peace and justice movements of the Left. The US government should take steps to end sanctions and normalize relations. In these times of peril, it is especially important that peace-loving people and organizations establish contacts and communications that reach across national boundaries. CCDS looks forward to working with the Left Party of Iran towards these goals.
