May the New Year be blessed to everyone in a world that still suffers from the wounds of war, inequality, discrimination, injustice, and tyranny, but at the same time, signs of hope for perseverance, resistance, and awakening are sprouting everywhere.
Today, the conscious and progressive people of the world, despite the unilateralism of the extreme right with the support of unbridled capitalism, have the opportunity to rein in the machine of war and killing, control poverty, and turn human life into their common horizon. We hope that the left and progressive forces, democratic institutions, and organizations that have placed human liberation at the center of their activities will take their steps more firmly and quickly on this path with vigilance and sensitivity. We hope that these efforts can control the incitement of war and the world will take steps towards justice and peace.

In the past year, the relentless killing of the people of Gaza, especially women and children, has wounded the conscience of the people of the world. This tragedy, which was carried out by the murderous government of Netanyahu with the support of Trump, has aroused a wave of solidarity among people all over the world, from the streets to universities and unions, and even a number of governments. This global outcry shows that the hope of ending these killings, the hope of achieving the rights of the Palestinian people, the acceptance of the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, and the hope of a world in which life prevails over destruction, war, violence, aggression and occupation, is still alive.

The war between Russia and Ukraine last year once again demonstrated the futility of the logic of militarism. This war has brought nothing to the people of both countries except thousands of victims, the destruction of infrastructure and the deepening of global divisions. In the face of this bloody and brutal massacre, the desire for a just and lasting peace, based on dialogue, respect for the sovereignty of nations, and the rejection of the policy of destructive blockades, has become more than ever a historical necessity.

On the other hand, we have witnessed the continuation and reproduction of policies that openly violate international laws and norms. The disregard for international agreements and the violation of treaties by Donald Trump and the far-right government of Israel, whose shadow weighs heavily on world politics, to the continuation of the blockade and economic pressure against countries such as Venezuela and countries that do not surrender to Trump's orders, is a destructive policy that is not in line with the growth of the average consciousness of the international community. The main victims of these coercive and domineering policies are ordinary people, workers, and the downtrodden. The fight against these injustices is an inseparable part of the global struggle for democracy and equality and a prerequisite for establishing peace.

Last year, the world also witnessed deepening environmental crises, widening class divisions, and increasing forced migration. At the same time, the growth of social movements, labor strikes, and women activism, youth, and progressive forces in various places showed that social resistance has not only not died down but is redefining itself in new forms.

In our country, the accumulation of crises and the intensification of insecurity and instability weighed heavily on people’s lives in the past year. The 12-day war between Israel and the United States with Iran once again brought our country to the brink of a widespread disaster, and its consequences, both in the economic and political and security spheres, directly put great pressure on the shoulders of the downtrodden and freedom fighters. Instead of responding, reducing repression and tensions, and repairing social divisions, the authoritarian regime increased the intensity of repression and securitization of society and continued executions and repression after the war. At the same time, the unprecedented increase in inflation and price increases, along with the freezing of wages below the poverty line and the elimination of some subsidies for basic goods and medicines, have severely reduced the purchasing power of the majority of the people and have spread poverty and deprivation to wider layers of society. The structural inability of the regime to manage the country, to contain the economic crisis, and to provide a minimum standard of living is becoming more and more apparent every day. In such a situation, the regime’s suppression machine is constantly active, not from a position of authority, but from the fear of collapse and loss of control over society. Nevertheless, Iranian society has not stopped fighting. Despite the increasing pressure, the people’s struggles against poverty and discrimination, injustice, and tyranny have increased significantly, and scope of these struggles has also extended into prisons. The struggles of workers, teachers, retirees, nurses, women, and youth have intensified and are still ongoing to achieve their demands. Social struggles manifest themselves in various forms and are met with the support of millions of people. These show that fear, as one of the regime's tools to maintain its dominance over the people, has lost its effectiveness, and the desire for freedom, social justice, and liberation from tyranny has become an uncontrollable force that can target the rulers at any time. The demonstrations and strikes that have now flared up in the country, in continuation of past protests, can deepen the regime's current impasse.

On the eve of the New Year, the Left Party of Iran, relying on the international solidarity of progressive humanity and believing in its power to bring about change, congratulates all freedom-loving, egalitarian, and peace-loving people on this New Year. We hope that in the New Year, wars will stop all over the world, especially in Gaza and Ukraine, and that humanity will be able to control the flames of wars in the world. In Iran, we also hope that political and social movements will break the weak and shaky foundations of the authoritarian regime ruling our country and pave the way for the establishment of a democratic republic based on the separation of religion and state, instead of the Islamic Republic.
